New Delhi: A new and distinctive form of protest against the U.S. military action against Iran is set to emerge in the Indian capital—not through street demonstrations, but through the language of international law, legal arguments and constitutional principles of state sovereignty.

A special legal seminar titled “The U.S. Attack on Iran Under International Law: Aggression or Self-Defence?” will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Iran Culture House in New Delhi.

The seminar will bring together prominent attorneys and legal scholars associated with the Centre of Attorneys of the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who will examine the legal dimensions of the U.S. military action against Iran.

Not Just Slogans—Questions Before International Law

The central question of the seminar will be direct and significant:

Can the U.S. military action against Iran genuinely be justified as an act of self-defence, or does it constitute aggression against a sovereign state?

The speakers are expected to examine the issue in the context of international law, state sovereignty, the United Nations framework and the limits of the right to self-defence.

The event presents a different form of Ehtijaj—one in which protest is expressed through legal reasoning rather than slogans, and through questions that challenge the legal justification offered for military action.

A Different Face of Ehtijaj in India

At a time when military conflicts are increasingly shaping international politics, the New Delhi seminar seeks to bring the debate back to a fundamental question:

Does military power create legal justification—or must even the most powerful nations remain accountable to international law?

The organisers describe the programme as an opportunity for distinguished scholars and legal experts to examine the issue from a serious international-law perspective.

The seminar will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Conference Hall, Iran Culture House, 18 Tilak Marg, New Delhi.

This time, the protest has a different voice—no stones, no violence, no confrontation; only law, questions and arguments.
